The Kids Purple Mattress arrived compressed in a box. It did not feel as heavy as an adult’s mattress usually would, meaning you’ll be able to handle it and carry it on your own without external help.

We unrolled the mattress onto our sleep surface and monitored its expansion over time. The mattress expanded to its full size in around an hour. This is mainly because of the light design of the Kids Purple Mattress which only includes a dual-layer comfort system. The edges of the mattress expanded along with the whole mattress. Indicating great corner expansion.

We carry out our standard cooling test by lying down on the mattress for 20 minutes, allowing the bed to absorb body heat, and then measuring the mattress’s temperature.

The Kids Purple mattress did not showed any signs of body heat buildup and felt cool throughout the test.

During our responsiveness test, we used a 20-pound ball. Once fully rested, we measured how long the mattress took to recover and retain its original shape.

We noticed a fast response time of 0.4 seconds which is equal to the average response time of most of the mattresses we’ve tested.

Motion Isolation

Motion isolation is an essential aspect to consider in the Kids Purple mattress. This is particularly true for children who share the bed with their siblings, like in loft beds or bunk beds.

For the first test, we placed a glass of water on one side of the bed and dropped a 20-pound ball on the other to see how much the water moved around. With the Kids Purple bed, the water did not move around much, which indicated that the mattress absorbed a sufficient amount of motion.

During our second test, we had one person lie down on the mattress while another person rolled and moved around on the other side of the bed. The person lying down on the other side reported that they felt a slight amount of movement.

The Kids Purple mattress is highly responsive, which means that it transfers a lot of movement. As a result, it can be challenging for the mattress to isolate motion effectively. If your child shares their bed with a sibling, this could have a negative impact on their sleep, as movements during the night are likely to disrupt their sleep.

Edge Support

• Stomach Sleepers: The pressure map showcased average levels of pressure relief. The Kids Purple bed’s soft design makes it a challenge to effectively elevate the hips and maintain proper spinal alignment for heavy children.
• Side Sleepers: The pressure map revealed excellent pressure relief for side sleepers. The Purple GelFlex Grid contributed to these results by allowing the mattress to perfectly adapt to the child’s body shape and pressure points. It relieved tension in the hips and shoulders, eliminating any pressure points in those two areas.
