Unboxing the Hush Knit Weighted Blanket

The Hush Knit Weighted Blanket arrived inside a carton box that was easy to carry and handle. Once we opened the box, we found the blanket rolled inside a huge, soft pouch. The pouch has a handle that allows you to easily pull the blanket out of the box.

Usually, weighted blankets tend to have some off-gassing effects when they’re unboxed from their packaging. This blanket did have some slight off-gassing smell when we removed it from the pouch.

The Hush Knit weighted blanket smell took a couple of hours of proper ventilation to smell fresh, which made the unboxing process slightly inconvenient.

Hush's Knit Weighted Blanket uses a manufacturing process, with craftspeople taking over 5 hours to hand-knit each blanket. While this approach aims to minimize mass-production issues, the build quality aligns with what you’d expect from a manually produced item, offering decent consistency without necessarily exceeding expectations.

The blanket comes in two versions made of super soft minky velour or cotton. Both materials reduce direct contact with the inner blanket. Hush markets the fabrics as hypoallergenic, but we did not conduct allergen testing.

The Hush Knit Weighted Blanket is 15 lbs. and contains glass-bead fill that evenly distributes weight, making it a comfortable and relaxing choice for people who need a little extra pressure.

Overall, we believe that Hush has paid extra attention to detail for their Knit Weighted Blanket, and it’s quite clear in the quality, touch, and feel of the blanket.

The Hush Knit Weighted Blanket has a very simple design. The blanket’s design consists of hand-woven knitted loops, which look nice as well as provide a function. The knit design allows air to easily flow in and around each loop to help you sleep cool.

A lot of weighted blankets suffer from mediocre breathability due to their fully closed design; the Hush Knit Weighted Blanket’s design was just as mediocre.

Overall, we found the blanket’s design extremely stylish and well thought out. We gave the the Hush Knit Weighted Blanket a well-considered design for shoppers who like an open-knit appearance.

We’d recommend the Helix Weighted Blanket if you prefer a conventional compartmented design rather than an open knit.

The blanket is available in two materials: minky velour and cotton. Each version has its own unique set of available colors. The Minky Velour comes in gray, cream, navy blue, light blue, dusty rose, and black. While the cotton version comes in grey, cream, dusty blue, and burnt orange.

We decided to test out the minky velour version in black, as it looked stylish and could be easily matched with any other color.

Hush Knit Weighted Blanket’s Feel and Comfort

In our experience, the weighted feel of the Hush Knit Weighted Blanket makes for a nice sleeping experience. The smooth touch of the fabric mixed with the weight makes the blanket feel as if you’re being cuddled all night.

Initially, we expected to feel too warm underneath the blanket; that was exactly the case.

That being said, Hush has made sure that the Hush Knit Weighted Blanket feels cozy but not moderately breathable, with a comfortable but still noticeably weighted feel.

Cooling and Breathability Performance

We did a 20-minute nap cooling performance test, where we tested how breathable and cooling the blanket is. We found the blanket moderately breathable, which makes sense as it's heavy and weighted. We would recommend the Nolah Chunky Knit Weighted Blanket for being more breathable.

Throughout the 20 minutes, we felt relaxed. The blanket applied a good amount of pressure to make you feel like you were being hugged.

This blanket isn’t as breathable as some non-weighted blankets. With that in consideration, the Hush Knit Weighted Blanket remained reasonably comfortable without the heat buildup we associate with many solid weighted blankets.

Pressure and relaxation

During our 20-minute test, the blanket's weight felt steady and some testers described the sensation as calming. That observation does not show that the blanket treats anxiety, reduces stress hormones, or produces deeper sleep.

People who already enjoy weighted pressure may appreciate the close, evenly distributed feel. It should not be treated as a substitute for care for persistent anxiety or sleep difficulty.
