How the Sleepiverse Mattress Score Works
The complete formula behind our mattress rating, including performance weights, Buying Protection, score bands, measurement precision, and evidence standards.
What the overall rating tells you
The Sleepiverse mattress rating combines the performance factors that most often determine comfort, shared-bed suitability, temperature, mobility, and expected useful life. Buying Protection receives a smaller weight because trial, return, warranty, and shipping terms affect the practical risk of a purchase.
The rating supports comparison, while the sleeper-fit table answers the more personal question of whether the tested firmness and construction fit a particular body and sleep position.

The overall rating is the sum of each factor score multiplied by its decimal weight, rounded to one decimal place. Current price and promotional quality are evaluated separately through Deal Truth.

How measurements become scores
Measurements use the conversion published for the relevant factor. Motion isolation, edge support, and ease of movement use anchor-based scales: the measured result receives the score at a published anchor, and results between two anchors are interpolated. This keeps the thresholds readable while preserving meaningful differences between mattresses.
Measurements are reported using the precision supported by the test. Repeated readings can vary by approximately 2% because of positioning, instrument precision, surface conditions, and rounding. The recorded result, not an editorially altered value, is used for scoring.
Pressure relief, support, cooling, and durability use published component rubrics because their raw measurements need construction and body-position context. Each review identifies the observations and product facts that determined the result.
Evidence coverage and performance are separate
A performance score describes the mattress. Evidence coverage describes how complete and current the supporting record is. A smaller owner sample or an undisclosed foam density does not automatically lower performance; it narrows the confidence and claims the review can support.
Model-specific owner patterns can refine durability when they are repeated, generation-matched, and based on credible ownership experience. Isolated comments and shopper speculation do not change a score.
Buying Protection
Buying Protection contributes 4% of the overall rating:

Mattresses governed by the same terms use the same policy inputs. A score differs when a model, retailer, clearance purchase, or other purchase channel carries materially different protections.
