Englander has been making natural mattresses by hand for over 125 years. All components of their beds, from the frames to the mattresses, are made in the USA. They are made with recyclable steel coils and eco-friendly Talalay Latex. Invest in a 100% latex or hybrid mattress today by visiting a local Englander retailer.
Consider Englander Mattress if
- In other words, you have a very warm night's sleep. The 3° Open Air layer found in Englander's Dreamer® Collection keeps you sleeping 3° cooler than standard foam beds.
- You're crazy about how Latex feels. Mattresses made by Englander are stuffed with Talalay Latex. This creates a more comfortable and healthy place to sleep by reducing heat and dust.
- You're hoping to find a happy medium. You can get the best of Talalay Latex, memory foam, and pocketed coils with Englander's hybrid collection.
Avoid Englander if
- You're more of an online shopper. Mattresses manufactured by Englander are only available through authorised retailers. Alternate labels are available for those who prefer to do their shopping exclusively online.
- You have a strong aversion to the use of Latex. Englander won't help if you're not a fan of the bounce that Latex provides. Choose the tried-and-true options of foam and innerspring beds.
- You're set on purchasing a mattress made entirely of foam. Not only does Englander not carry an all-foam bed option, but those who adore the sensation of memory foam will be disappointed to learn that they do not carry any memory foam mattresses at all.
- You want the best value for your money. There are much better alternatives, such as the reputable award-winning Layla Hybrid Mattress, which are actual luxury mattresses that are made for the same audience but with much better features all-around, with occasionally an even lower price. Making it a much better deal.
Firmness, Feel and Comfort for Englander Mattress
In recent years, Englander has made some changes to the materials they use. For example, some of their mattresses now have recycled steel coils and latex that are certified by Oeko-Tex®. But customers give Englander mixed reviews when it comes to how it feels at first and how well it holds up.
Some people were happy with their Englander mattresses, but others said their mattresses sagged quickly. Some people have also said that the first comfort felt worse than they expected.
Overall, when you notice controversy in customer feedback, this usually points out to inconsistent production which is probably the case with Englander. However, compare this to something like the Layla Hybrid, and you won't see such controversy between customers due to very reputable and consistent high-quality production.
Different types of hybrid mattresses with different levels of comfort are made by Englander.
- Elect™: Has a firm feel, ranking 8/10 on the firmness scale.
- Elation™: Has a medium feel, ranking 6/10 on the firmness scale.
- Echelon™: Has a plush feel, ranking 4/10 on the firmness scale.
Englander Mattress Pain Relief Performance
When it comes to relieving pressure, the best materials are latex and foam. The reason is also pretty simple: if the bed is made of good materials and has a body-contouring feature, your weight will be spread out evenly across the bed.
As you may have guessed, this is something that all Englander mattresses have in common, at least the hybrid ones. If you have painful spots or want to buy a mattress that will help you avoid getting them, customer Englander mattress reviews say that the hybrids are a pretty good choice.
With that being said, we found the Englander mattress to be on the lower end compared to reputable hybrid mattress brands. Putting Englander Mattresses to something of high quality like the Layla Hybrid leaves no reason to pick the Englander Mattress. In this case, the reputable & award-winning Layla Hybrid provides much better pain relief performance.
Motion Transfer
Englander isn't the best choice if you want a mattress that doesn't let almost any movement through. Some of their mattresses have a layer of memory foam and pocketed coils that reduce motion transfer. However, because latex is so springy, it doesn't absorb movement as well as foam does.
Performance During Sex
The hybrid mattresses, on the other hand, are a great choice for sex. The latex gives it bounce, and the pocketed coils give it lift and make it last longer.
Construction and Design for Englander Mattress
Layers
- Cover - is made of organic cotton, which naturally keeps the mattress cooler and lets it breathe.
- Talalay Latex - is made from rubber trees and gives you a lifted feeling to relieve pressure better than anything else. It also sleeps cooler and springs back quickly, which makes it easy to move around in bed.
- Memory Foam - A thin layer of memory foam helps you feel more comfortable by gently cradling you.
- 3° Open Air - Air channels are made in the middle of the mattress by tiny microcoils. This makes the mattress cooler.
- Pocketed coils - Individually wrapped coils in pockets give the mattress a strong base. They also give good support to the edges and let air flow freely between the springs.

Overall Rating
Conclusion
Overall, we wouldn't recommend Englander's hybrid beds after reviewing all customer reviews. Going for the Englander mattress is pointless when there are much better options like the Layla Hybrid Mattress.
The collection has good cooling, pressure relief, and other features. However, with no online shopping option and no easy access to basic mattress information, it will be difficult to get to the nearest mattress retail store.
The bed also lacks durability, motion isolation, and other features. If you care about your sleep health and are willing to spend money on a new mattress, check out the better alternatives. Unknown Englander mattress prices don't help either.
