Unboxing the Plank Firm Luxe Mattress

Unboxing and setting up the Plank Firm Luxe mattress was easy. The mattress was compressed in a box. Due to this mattress's high-density layers and construction, it can be quite heavy. We suggest having two people set it up for easy handling.

The mattress began to expand once we unrolled it onto our sleeping surface. As a result of its firmness, the full expansion time of the mattress lasted a full day. It’s necessary to allow the mattress to fully expand to get a good initial experience. The edges also expanded consistently with the mattress indicating excellent corner expansion.

We did not notice a strong smell upon unboxing the mattress. The off-gassing period lasted around 2 days which is shorter than the average of 3 days.

To conduct our standard cooling test, we lie down on the mattress for 20 minutes, waiting for the bed to absorb body heat, and then measure the temperature of the mattress.

In the second test, one person lay on the mattress while another rolled around on the other side of the bed. The person lying at rest reported that they felt slight movement from the other side.

We also sat on the edges of the bed and did not feel secure. We did not feel any sinkage and we felt a significant amount of counterpressure, which will lead to a roll-off sensation whenever you decide to sit or sleep on the side of the bed.
