Unboxing the Wolf 12” Hybrid
It was really simple to unbox the new Wolf 12” Hybrid Mattress. The mattress was compressed and wrapped up in a plastic-covered box for protection. We just brought the small box to the bedroom—which may require two people for their safety due to the mattress's numerous layers—opened it, and took off the plastic wrapping.
The mattress expanded beautifully, exhibiting great corner expansion, in 24 hours after we laid it out, and it expanded to its intended shape.
Any initial off-gassing was harmless and rapidly faded with enough ventilation, which gave us great relief. All in all, the procedure was quite simple and trouble-free.
Firmness, Feel, and Comfort For Wolf 12” Hybrid
Wolf 12” Hybrid Firmness
It's critical to choose a mattress that suits your needs because the material stiffness will vary depending on your body weight and preferred sleeping position.
The Wolf Hybrid Luxury offers a well-balanced blend of comfort and support, making it an excellent option for a range of sleeping positions. It has a medium-firm feel, with a firmness rating of 6/10. This is ideal for back and combination sleepers.
Wolf 12” Hybrid Feel
The Wolf Hybrid mattress is an opulent sleeping surface. It's a cool and pleasant place to sleep because of the material's velvety feel against the skin. The precisely proportioned cushioning and support make it easy to rest and unwind as you sink into the layers.
The mattress conforms to the natural contours of your body, hugging you in comfort and promoting restful, deep sleep all night. Whether you're sleeping or just lounging, the Wolf Hybrid mattress envelops you in a cloud-like embrace, ensuring a reviving sleep experience.
Wolf 12” Hybrid Comfort
Each sleeper has a different weight and different sleeping patterns, which means we’ve got to test each to see how comfortable each person would feel, making it easier for you, as a sleeper, to find your preference in mattresses.
Back sleepers prefer medium-firm or medium mattresses like the Wolf 12” Hybrid because they provide sufficient support for their spines without being too firm or too soft, whereas side sleepers prefer softer mattresses to contain their hips and shoulders without adding too much pressure to them.
Stomach sleepers prefer firm mattresses due to their firmness, which prevents their bodies from sinking in and alleviates pressure on their hips and shoulders.
We tested the mattress in different sleeping positions with different weights. These are our results:
SLEEPER WEIGHT | BACK SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS |
---|---|---|---|
Lightweight (Under 150 lb) | Excellent | Very Good | Good |
Average (150 – 250 lb) | Very Good | Excellent | Good |
Above-average (Over 250 lb) | Good | Excellent | Average |

Materials and Design
The Wolf Mattress combines the cooling technology used in its cover with the cooling gel foam layer, which ensures hot sleepers will be comfortable sleeping on it, while maintaining the combination of comfort and plushiness provided by each foam layer with the support and durability of the 8” coils.
The coils are individually wrapped to ensure breathability, while the safeguard fiber is used as protection to make the mattress more durable.
Layers
- Stretch Knit Cover with Cooling Technology: The mattress is topped with a stretch knit cover infused with cooling technology. This innovative cover promotes airflow and helps regulate temperature, ensuring a cool and comfortable sleep surface.
- Safeguard Fiber: Beneath the cover lies the Safeguard Fiber layer, designed to enhance durability and protect the mattress from wear and tear. This fiber layer adds extra resilience to the mattress, prolonging its lifespan.
- Cooling Gel Foam: The mattress incorporates a layer of cooling gel foam, which provides excellent temperature regulation and prevents overheating during sleep. This foam layer contours to your body, offering pressure relief while keeping you cool and comfortable throughout the night.
- 1" Gel Memory Foam: The gel memory foam layer adapts to your body's contours, offering personalized comfort and support. It relieves pressure points and reduces motion transfer, allowing for deeper and more restorative sleep.
- 1" High-Density Plush Support Foam: This high-density plush support foam layer enhances the mattress's comfort and cushioning. It provides additional support to ensure proper spinal alignment and reduce pressure on sensitive areas.
- 8" Wrapped Support Coils: The mattress features individually wrapped support coils, which respond independently to your body's movements. These coils offer targeted support and minimize motion transfer, ensuring an undisturbed sleep experience.
- 1" Stability Base Layer: At the base of the mattress lies the stability base layer, providing a sturdy foundation for the entire mattress. This layer enhances durability and prevents sagging, ensuring long-lasting performance and support.
Performance of Wolf 12” Hybrid
Cooling
Mattress cooling is mandatory for those who sleep hot, especially those living in warmer areas. The ventilated design of the 12" Wolf Hybrid mattress facilitates heat release while inhibiting heat accumulation. Materials are chosen based on their capacity to neutralize heat, which absorbs and releases excess heat, for people who tend to overheat at night.
We had our reviewer lie down on the mattress for 20 minutes to test its heat retention capabilities, and the mattress performed exceptionally well in terms of cooling, as evidenced by our reviewer's report of feeling completely cool upon rising.
The Cooling Gel foam layer provides excellent temperature regulation and prevents overheating during sleep. This foam layer contours to your body, offering pressure relief while keeping you cool and comfortable throughout the night.
We gave the Wolf Hybrid a 4.7/5 on our cooling test for its excellent breathability.
Responsiveness
If you move around at night, responsiveness is important because it's the time it takes the mattress to get back to its original shape after adding pressure to it.
We tested the mattress using a 20-pound ball, putting it on the mattress and letting it add pressure, then removing it to see how fast the mattress returned to its original shape, which overall took about 0.8 seconds. That shows that it has good responsiveness.
The Wolf Hybrid mattress generally follows the contours of your body to keep you comfortable all night. Individually pocketed coils and multiple foam layers enhance the responsiveness of your mattress.
The Wolf 12" Hybrid received a great 4.6/5 for responsiveness on our test.
Motion Isolation
For couples who don't want their partner tossing and turning in the middle of the night, motion isolation is essential because it reduces and absorbs motion transfer over the mattress surface.
In our initial test, we positioned a 20-pound ball on one side of the mattress and placed a glass of water on the other to gauge the transfer of movement from one side to the other. The glass cup barely moved, indicating good motion isolation.
The second test was more important as we had two of our reviewers perform it; one was laying still while the other moved around on the other side of the mattress. The reviewer still claimed to have barely felt any movement, which indicates good motion isolation too.
The multiple foam layers included in the mattress help reduce motion transfer, as well as having individually pocketed coils to prevent the coils from causing any motion transfer like most hybrid mattresses.
Our motion isolation test gave the Wolf Hybrid a score of 4.4/5.
Edge Support
Edge support is an important feature in any mattress, especially for those who want to move around freely without worrying about falling off or using the mattress's full space.
We conducted two tests on the Wolf 12" Hybrid to determine how it would function. Initially, we applied intense pressure to the edges while monitoring any counterpressure. When we released the pressure, the mattress regained its natural shape and provided decent edge support.
Second, we had a reviewer of ours sit on the edge of the mattress to see how much sinkage would be felt. The reviewer said they felt secure and didn’t feel like they would fall off; however, there was a slight bit of sinkage.
On our edge support test, the Wolf 12" Hybrid mattress has a rating of 4.2/5, which means it has good edge support.
Noise
Light sleepers and couples would benefit a lot from a mattress that doesn’t make much noise, especially if you have a partner who moves around a lot.
To test the mattress for noise, we use an extremely sensitive microphone to measure the impact of a 20-pound ball, specifically looking for any noise or squeaks caused by the impact. The mattress barely made any noise, which means that it was very quiet.
We gave its noise level a 5/5, so it's a great option for light sleepers, couples, and people who are sensitive to noise, which is very good for a hybrid mattress, especially since its coil nature would usually make noise.
Sex
Most couples need a mattress that provides some responsiveness in addition to motion isolation. The mattress finds a sweet spot and is responsive enough for intimate moments. It also springs back nicely.
You can't dip too far below the surface thanks to its fun bounce and cooling properties. This suggests that you won't feel hot or heavy while moving around freely and comfortably with your spouse, making it a great option for couples looking for an enjoyable sexual experience.
With a 4.5/5 rating on our sex performance test, the Wolf Hybrid is a very safe choice for you and your lover.
Pressure Relief
The Wolf Hybrid includes many layers of foam that help contour to the shape of your body, as well as 8” coils that provide sufficient support for sleepers without adding pressure to their joints while sleeping.
We had one of our reviewers lie on the mattress in three different sleeping positions each for 20 minutes to see how much pressure was there in each sleeping position.
The pressure map below shows the results of the pressure relief test.
The blue area on the map indicates that the medium-firmness of the mattress makes it a perfect option for back sleepers because it provides the perfect amount of contour for the back area and support, which are necessary to prevent back pain.
The slight yellow and orange appearance of both side sleeping and stomach sleeping indicates that the mattress is not optimal for either type of sleeping. Side sleepers need a softer mattress to not add pressure to their shoulders and hips, while stomach sleepers need a firmer one.
The Wolf 12" Hybrid mattress received a total score of 4.5/5 on our pressure relief test, making it a good option for side and lighter back sleepers but not the best for stomach sleepers.
