Sinkage measured 2.05–2.13 inches on a 14-inch profile. Response mostly recovered in 0.29–0.31 seconds, fully recovered in 0.39–0.41 seconds, and bounce measured 7.13–7.43 inches. The Active Flex and 6.75-inch support core add some pushback, but the plush comfort stack still makes the AS5 a better support fit for side sleepers than for back or stomach sleepers.
Motion-transfer testing scored 9.2/10, with peak-to-peak acceleration of 6.97–7.25 m/s². The thick all-foam comfort system and low 7.13–7.43-inch bounce help absorb partner movement better than a springier hybrid.
A fixed 12 lb load creates the impact while an accelerometer records the movement that crosses the mattress.
Cooling testing scored 9.0/10, while sinkage measured 2.05–2.13 inches. The Refresh cover and open-cell Bio-Pur foam help the AS5 outperform many plush foams, but the deep all-foam cradle still creates more body contact than firmer foam or hybrid designs. The final 8.7 rating reflects that additional surface contact.
Edge-support testing scored 8.6/10. Sitting compression measured 4.41–4.59 inches, while lying edge support was rated Excellent. The AS5 works better for sleeping near the side than for sitting on the edge or using it for mobility support.
We measure seated compression, then check how secure the surface remains while lying directly along the edge.
Response timing showed most recovery in 0.29–0.31 seconds and full recovery in 0.39–0.41 seconds. Bounce measured a low 7.13–7.43 inches and sinkage measured 2.05–2.13 inches, so the AS5 responds quickly for plush foam but still lacks the assisted movement of coils or latex.
The 14-inch profile includes a 7.25-inch comfort system and 6.75-inch support core, and the available foam-density data points to a substantial build. Plush foams can soften with use, but AS5-specific long-term owner evidence and accelerated-aging results remain limited. That uncertainty keeps the rating below the strongest premium hybrids.
